February 2014

I took these photos (along with 30 others) for our Valentine's Day card this year.  The kids LOVE their super hero shirts.

Canaan and I joined some friends to see Goldilocks and the Three Bears at a local theater.

Celebrating the Seahawks' Super Bowl victory

One of the kids favorite things to do is play our Kinect Adventures game on the tv.  Here is a picture of Canaan and me playing.  Jude was not happy that he had to sit out while Matthew and Canaan played.

Grandma made this activity book for Canaan when she was 1 1/2.  Jude enjoys playing with it, too.

Finally some snow at our house!

Mommy, "Canaan, I don't think you could be wearing more bling if you tried."  Canaan replied, "Yes I could Mom.  I need a ring."  She certainly comes up with some interesting outfit combinations these days.

Canaan came home from preschool and immediately wanted to check out what valentines she had received.

This is a HAPPY Max.  He loves playing fetch.

Our Valentine celebration at home...waffles and fresh strawberries for breakfast, having tea later on in the day, Canaan snuggling with Max during a movie, and a family photo after takeout for supper.  I guess Jude never got out of his pjs!

Matthew is involved in the youth group at church so we joined them for a snow day.  Canaan loved playing in the snow with the teenagers.

Canaan got fingernail polish for Christmas.  This was the first time I let her put it on by herself.

new haircuts

Matthew and I attended a Fernando Ortega concert to benefit Carenet.  It was a fun night out!

The slide off the deck in our backyard remains a fun spot for the kids to play.

Canaan has been talking about camping a lot lately so we put the tent up in the living room.  The first night it was up I slept in the tent with her.  The second night she slept there by herself.  We were able to fit her mattress inside which was much nicer than sleeping on the hard floor.

We participated in a co-op this Spring and studied maps, compasses, etc.  This was a field trip we took.  Again, Canaan found the tiniest of creatures on those rocks.

January 2014

I miss being able to direct family to the blog to see recent pictures of the kids so I decided I would work on monthly posts beginning with January 2014.  These posts will have a lot of pictures.

We enjoyed sunny days in January.  We spent a lot of time playing in the backyard...drawing with chalk and playing with Max.

On this particular day, we did some browsing for a new couch.  We didn't make any purchases, but it was nice to get out of the house.

Canaan has decided that Max enjoys going for a walk even if that means we don't even leave the house.  She walks Max around the house.  I'm sure he loves it.

Matthew had a 3 day weekend for MLK Day so we decided to go for a hike in a couple of local parks.  Oh how we LOVE the sun!

It doesn't matter where we are, Canaan can find the smallest insect, caterpillar, bug, etc.  And she is not afraid to touch anything.

Some friends had sparklers left over from the 4th of July so we used them to celebrate one of the Seahawks' playoff victories.

Another beautiful day for a hike.  No hike is complete without tree climbing and Max swimming in the water.

Jude got these blocks for Christmas.  Canaan dressed as Jasmine from Aladdin and built a marketplace with the blocks.  She has quite the imagination.

More sunshine makes a great day for blowing bubbles.

Painting is a favorite activity.  Canaan painted this ladybug as well as most of the rain forest in the picture below.

One dreary weekend we headed to the mountains to see both snow and sunshine.  We just walked around for a bit in the snow.  Canaan slid down everything she could and decided she wanted to go skiing.  Jude was not a fan.

Jude really enjoyed this blue lollipop!

Jude's 2nd birthday

Jude turned 2 December 7th!  Here are some pictures from his birthday celebration.  I finally decided on a theme for his birthday the day before so I got to work after he went to bed.  Some of his favorite toys are his Superhero Little People.  So I took some pictures from the box they came in to make a banner.  He loved it and pointed to the different super heroes all day.  My scrapbook paper stash also came in handy for adding some items to his birthday cake.  We all wore superhero shirts to celebrate as well.  What a fun day to celebrate a fun boy!

At two, Jude is awesome!  He talks all the time though we only understand maybe a dozen words.  He loves his superheroes, building with blocks, putting the Duplo Legos together, eating, drinking milk, playing with Canaan and Daddy, and following Canaan around.  His favorite book is still "If You're Happy and You Know It - Jungle Edition".  He loves sitting in a lap and reading books.  And he is always running or galloping to his destination.  What a fun and sweet boy!
