Zoo Day

Matthew is a SUPERSTAR!  Last week he told Canaan that we were through with diapers.  She has been very resistant to using the potty, but after his declaration things have changed.  He told her if she pooped on the potty 3 times, he would take her to the zoo.  She has been doing a great job!  There have been accidents, but I am SO proud of how regularly she is using the potty.  Yay Canaan!

So today was the day Matthew took Canaan to the zoo.  This is the 3rd time she's been this year.  She asks to go all the time, she really loves the animals.  Today they also had a picnic at the zoo.  She rode the carousel twice.  And today she got to feed one of the elephants.  Because they were celebrating her potty success, she also got to pick out a toy from the zoo and have some ice cream.

What a fun day with Daddy!

Hello Sunshine!

Yesterday was another GORGEOUS day!  So after work and dinner we went to a local park just to spend some time outside.  Canaan enjoyed putting her feet in the COLD water and playing in the sand.  She also enjoyed swinging and going down the slide.  This looks like a great spot for our next picnic.

Mother's Day 2012

After church on Sunday, Melinda took these pictures of us.  Canaan had been playing so she wasn't interested in many pictures.  These were the best we got.  I had a wonderful Mother's Day.  The weather was PERFECT!  After taking care of some chores/errands while Canaan took a nap, we went to the park for a picnic.  We have had a lot of nice days recently and want to spend as much time outside enjoying it as possible.

Day 5 @ Grandma & Grandpa's house

After Canaan and Jude were in bed Friday night, my brother and his family arrived.  It had been almost 2 years since I'd seen them (too long).  My youngest nephew played in a tennis tournament on Saturday so we got to watch him play.  He will be 11 in a few days and played very well.  He and his brother are quite the tennis players.

Day 5
  • We watched my nephew play 2 tennis matches.  Canaan enjoyed playing tennis balls with my oldest nephew.  He was sweet to play with her while we watched the matches.
  • Canaan played with the water hose at Grandma & Grandpa's house.  We had to change her clothes before we went back for the second tennis match.
  • After nap time, we went swimming again.
  • Jude took a nap during the swimming.

We left town Sunday at 5 pm and our plane landed after 11 pm in Seattle.  It was a long day, but we had a great time.  We were able to relax, enjoy the sun and heat (it got to 95 at least one day...40 degrees warmer than in Seattle on the same day), eat some yummy food (Chick-fil-a, Abuelo's, Scholtzsky's, etc), and go to a movie.

Thank you Grandma for the tickets to come see you!

Day 4 @ Grandma & Grandpa's house

Day 4
  • All week Canaan has been looking for bunnies.  She's seen them a couple of times.  In this first photo, you can see a bunny in the shade of that little tree.  She told me each time that the bunnies ran away from her because they were scared.
  • Grandma let Canaan paint in the kitchen while Jude looked on from his rocking chair.
  • Jude had his first bath in the sink.

Day 3 @ Grandma Grandpa's house

Day 3
  • Grandma let Canaan pick an Iris from the yard (she's holding the yellow flower in the first photo).  Canaan said she got it for me, but she never let me have it.
  • One of my parents' friends met us so Canaan could ride his horses.  She was THRILLED!  She got to ride Toby and Sally.  She rode Sally bareback.
  • While Canaan rode the horses, Jude hung out in the tack room.
  • After riding the horses, we went to Medi Park where Canaan fed the ducks.  Grandma didn't have any old bread so we tried Cheerios.  The birds especially liked the cereal.
  • After these adventures, we enjoyed some Rudy's BBQ...yum!

Day 2 @ Grandma & Grandpa's house

The run down of day 2 at Grandma & Grandpa's house...
  • Canaan enjoyed swinging in the hammock.  Her eyes are closed because the sun was so bright.  She's not used to that in Seattle, you know.
  • She enjoyed tromping through the garden while Grandpa hung his flag.
  • Jude hung out just like day 1...he's a good lounger.
  • We went swimming at WTAMU's lazy river/swimming pool.
  • We witnessed the massive amount of moths while in Texas.  Canaan LOVES bugs for some reason.  Every time she would see a moth, she would tell one of us, "I need to show you something."  She was not afraid of them at all and even picked up a few.

Day 1 @ Grandma & Grandpa's house

April 30th we loaded up and flew to Grandma & Grandpa's house in Texas.  It was a long day of travel, but the kids did terrific.  Canaan enjoyed watching movies on the iPad and Jude was happy to be eating and being held the whole time.  I was anxious about the long travel (3 flights, 1 plane change, 8 hours between takeoff of 1st plane and landing at final destination) and was so thankful it went so well.

On our first day at Grandma & Grandpa's house, Canaan was excited to pet Miss Peachy Sue who lives at their house.  From the moment she heard there was a horse at their house, she couldn't wait to pet and ride her.  She wasn't able to ride Miss Peachy Sue though as she hasn't been ridden in a long time.

Next, Canaan enjoyed watering Grandma's flowers.  This girl loves to play with water in any fashion.

Canaan also enjoyed riding on the golf cart, which she called a tractor.  Grandpa gave her rides every day we were in town.

While Canaan was out and about, Jude hung out on the play mat, swing, bouncy seat, and in everyone's laps.

Jude is 5 months!

I cannot believe this guy is 5 months old!  It has gone by so quickly.  Jude is a happy guy...unless he is hungry, has a dirty/wet diaper, or is sleepy.  He really likes for someone to be paying him attention and talking to him.  His smile is priceless.  He is obviously a good eater but gets distracted when Daddy or Canaan come into the room while he's eating.  Jude is very interested in Canaan.  Canaan will sing to Jude when he's upset (sometimes).  When she does, Jude will generally stop crying and look for her.  She brings a smile to his face.  Jude does not like tummy time.  I have not been good about making him spend time on his tummy.  He may never learn to crawl or roll over because he can't lift his head for long.  He is a sweet boy and we love him to pieces!
